Purpose of this guide

This guide was created to give you some guidelines for the process of obtaining copyright persmission to convert a vhs or dvd into streaming format. Prior to engaging in the permissions process you should contact the library to determine if the film you are interested in is already available for purchase in streaming format. If it is not available, then follow the permissions request process outlined on this guide.

Included in this guide are:

  • Directions for the process
  • Sample letter for requesting permission of a rightsholder
  • Sample acceptable use form

*This is a work in progress and will have added content over time*
